The list worth saving before the first cold snap

There is a narrow window every fall where booking a furnace tune-up is easy, and then there is the week the temperature drops and every HVAC company in the region is booked solid taking emergency calls. We are in the easy window right now. It closes sometime in October.

So this week we went looking for the trades and home service companies that are actually based here, not Edmonton outfits with a "Leduc" landing page. Seven of them, across all three towns, all confirmed on their own websites.

Save this one. You will want it in January.

In Leduc and Leduc County

Ruysch Heating & Air Conditioning

The most complete listing on this page, and the one with a real shop behind it. Family owned and operated by Mike and Ashtyn Ruysch, with a journeyman sheet metal worker and a Class A gasfitter on the tools and over 20 years in the trade.

They do the obvious things (furnaces, air conditioning, ducts, humidifiers, water heaters) and a few less obvious ones worth knowing about: underground gas line installation, natural gas barbecue hookups, radiant tube heaters and unit heaters for garages and shops, and custom sheet metal out of their own fabrication shop. They also handle agricultural work, so barns, milk houses and grain dryers are on the list.

Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, and the emergency line is answered around the clock.

  • A-49260 Range Road 244, Leduc County

  • (780) 980-2220

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Emergency service 24/7.

Leduc Furnaces

A local family business built around the thing most people actually need in September: a tune-up and an honest answer about whether the old unit has another winter in it. Free in-home assessments, which is the right way to start if you are not sure whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement.

Furnace and AC tune-ups, installs, hot water tanks and tankless. They will also walk you through what rebates are currently available on high-efficiency equipment, which is worth asking about before you commit to anything.

  • Leduc, serving the surrounding communities

  • 587-906-8880, or 1-888-205-0251 for 24/7 emergency

  • Hours are not published. Call to book the free assessment.

Daniels Heating & Refrigeration

Another local family operation, and the one to call if your problem is not a standard house furnace. Alongside residential heating and cooling they handle refrigeration, boilers, chillers, rooftop units, makeup air units, walk-in coolers and freezers, ductless splits and geothermal. They added plumbing to the list as well.

The useful thing for homeowners: they run preventative maintenance programs, so the tune-up happens on a schedule instead of whenever you remember. Ruud and Air Ease dealer, and they work on most brands.

  • Leduc, serving the surrounding areas

  • 587-785-6033

  • Hours are not published. Free estimates.

Gutter Dunn Eavestroughing

The other fall job, and the one people skip until water is running down the outside of the house. Gutter Dunn has been installing eavestroughs in the greater Edmonton area since 2007 and works across Leduc, Nisku, Beaumont, Devon, Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg.

Seamless gutters, repairs, replacements, soffit and fascia, downspouts, drip edge, and gutter guard systems built for freeze-thaw. If you are getting quotes, ask about the continuous hanger systems specifically, because the load rating matters here more than it does in a milder climate.

  • 290 50512 RR245, Leduc County

  • (780) 955-2240. Warburg area: (780) 848-2529.

  • Free quote, with a site inspection before the estimate.

In Beaumont

Captain's Plumbing & Heating

Beaumont based, run by a journeyman plumber and gasfitter with industry experience going back to 2010. BBB accredited with an A+ rating.

This is the everyday list rather than the big install: slow and clogged drains, leaks, taps, toilets, shut-off valves, no hot water, water heater repair and replacement, furnace trouble, and gas line work for appliance connections. Residential first, with some light commercial and renovation support.

  • Beaumont, serving Beaumont, Leduc, Devon and the Edmonton area

  • (780) 718-0162

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Devon

Jade Plumbing & Heating

Devon's own, right on Athabasca Avenue, and they answer the phone at 3:00 a.m. 24-hour emergency service is the headline, but the regular work covers plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, radiant heat, furnace repairs and replacements, gas fitting, and both commercial and residential installation.

If you live in Devon and have been calling Edmonton for plumbing, this is the closer option.

Naughton Electrical

A master electrician working out of Devon and covering Devon, Leduc County, Parkland County, Spruce Grove, Calmar, and St. Albert. Residential, commercial, and light industrial.

What they lead with is the consultation: a walk-through of your options and the scope of work before anything gets quoted, so you can size the job to the budget rather than the other way around. Worth a call if you are planning a basement, adding a garage subpanel, or finally dealing with that one outlet.

  • Devon, serving Devon, Leduc County and Parkland County

  • Inquiries through the contact form on their site. No phone number is published.
