📰 In the News

📍 LEDUC: Weekend bus service to Edmonton on the table

Leduc Transit's Route 1 to Century Park has run weekday peak hours only, on essentially the same schedule since 2014. Now the City is proposing seven more service hours each weekday (one more morning trip and three more afternoon trips) and, for the first time, Saturday and Sunday service, totalling 37 hours across the weekend. Ridership is up 9% this year and 31% above pre-COVID levels, and local businesses have asked for weekend service to help their staff get to work. "The public wants to have connectivity into Edmonton on the weekends," said Mayor Lars Hansen. Council will weigh it during budget talks starting Nov 2. Read more (93.1 The One, Oct 22)

📍 BEAUMONT: A new cenotaph for Remembrance Day

Beaumont will unveil its new cenotaph on Nov 11, on the traffic circle near the entrance to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre. It was designed with local Legion members and features a raised monument with a sword and the Commonwealth war emblem. This year's Remembrance Day ceremony moves outdoors to the BSRC parking lot, where the cenotaph will be consecrated, so dress for November weather. A livestream will also be available. 📍 LEDUC: Poppies start Saturday

The Legion's Poppy Campaign begins Saturday, Oct 24 across Leduc, Leduc County, Beaumont, Nisku and New Sarepta. Leduc's Remembrance Day service is Nov 11 at the Leduc Recreation Centre.
