Meet Your Neighbours
This week we're featuring two locals who show up every week to build something for the community: the story behind a new market in Devon, and the entertainer keeping Leduc Brewing Company's Thursday and Friday nights full.
MEET TODAY’S FEATURE
Your Neighbourhood Market in Devon
Ang Myers, Sherri Issler and Michelle Wambold started Your Neighbourhood Market this year after the Devon Lions' approved farmers market, which ran Thursdays 2-5, was cancelled back in January. They saw the gap and decided Devon needed a market, so they built one.
It now runs every Thursday, 4-8 PM, at the Devon Community Centre, with more than 40 vendors and room for more. The group is currently working toward getting the market approved for Farmers Market status.

On Sept 10, they're hosting their annual Community Awareness Night, and they're inviting nonprofits, community organizations, and businesses looking to get their name out to come set up a table. Vendor pricing is $25 per table, with a $10 rate for nonprofit, fundraising, and youth vendors (youth need an adult present). They're also looking for a company to run a barbecue during market hours: the spot is $25 and the operator keeps all proceeds.
Looking ahead, Your Neighbourhood Market is also running two Christmas Craft Markets this year: Calmar (at the Legion), Nov 27-28, and Devon (at the Community Centre), Dec 4-5. Vendor tables for each are $25 on the Friday, $50 on the Saturday.
Heads up: there's no market this Thursday, Aug 20. The Community Centre space is being held in case of a rain-out for a symphony event in town this week.

Tilt Entertainment
Since 2023, Tilt Entertainment has been the house entertainment provider for Leduc Brewing Company, running Thursday night Trivia, Music Bingo, and Name That Tune, plus Friday night Karaoke and DJ Video Dance Parties. Founder Chris "Tilt" Hill has been performing karaoke since he was 18, with a background in amateur theatre and technical theatre, and builds every trivia question and music bingo card himself. He's joined by Furious Frank, an in-house DJ and karaoke host with roots in the industry going back to the early 2000s.
September's lineup at Leduc Brewing Company:
Name That Tune (Sept 3)
Trivia (Sept 10), Music Bingo (Sept 17)
Name That Tune again (Sept 24) on Thursdays, with Karaoke (Sept 4)
Kamikaze Karaoke (Sept 25) on Fridays. Tilt also takes the show to Wallbanger Distillery at Pigeon Lake for a Name That Tune night on Saturday, Sept 26, at 7 PM. All games are free to play, with prizes and drink specials on the night.
Beyond the weekly nights, Tilt runs occasional special events like Leduc Idol, was a host venue for the Karaoke World Championships, and provided entertainment for the Summer Grillin' BBQ Festival in Leduc. The team also books weddings, Christmas parties, corporate functions, and private events, and works well beyond Leduc: Edmonton, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stoney Plain, Devon, Calmar, Thorsby, Mulhurst Bay, New Sarepta, Camrose, Millet, and Wetaskiwin.
