News Highlights

What is happening

LEDUC

Fire Hall #3

Fire Hall #3 taking shape Leduc's third fire hall, rising in the Harvest Industrial Business Park, is on track to be substantially complete this fall, with full operation expected by early 2027. Once open, it's expected to cut emergency response times in the industrial area by roughly 25%.

Also this month: Leduc County Council approved its 2026 final budget — a 2% tax increase for residential and farmland properties, 2.5% for non-residential — with new funding to grow the gravel-road grader fleet from 11 to 13 units.

BEAUMONT

New Scooters

The city's e-scooter pilot switched operators — Lime took over from Neuron on July 3, so expect to see new-coloured scooters around town.

New School

New Beaumont high school confirmed. The same provincial 2026 budget that funds Leduc's school planning also greenlights construction funding for a brand-new high school in Beaumont — a direct response to the town's rapid population growth straining current schools.

  • Beaumont Youth Soccer Club Kickoff Classic — August 23–24, 2026. Local soccer tournament hosted in Beaumont.

  • Leduc Discovery Cup (soccer, U11–U17) — sanctioned by Alberta Soccer, hosted by Leduc Soccer Association, but I couldn't pin down exact 2026 dates from search — worth a direct check with leducsoccer.ca before publishing.
