Mayor's Update: City Tops Provincial Quality of Life Benchmark
Results from Leduc's Budget Planning & Citizen Satisfaction Survey show 92% of residents rate their quality of life as good, very good or excellent, well above the 68% provincial benchmark. Satisfaction is highest with fire response, park maintenance, arena operations and aquatics; residents flagged transit, LATS and road maintenance as areas to improve. The proposed 2027 budget comes this fall, with Council deliberations in November open to the public.
Public Hearing for Bylaw 1256-2026: Robinson Area Structure Plan
The proposed amendment updates statistics and maps to better reflect the current built environment in the Robinson neighbourhood, plus a text change allowing more flexible housing form on the medium-density site in the southwest corner. Council holds a public hearing Monday, Aug 24, 5:30 PM at the Leduc Civic Centre.

Fall Recreation Registration Now Open
Resident registration for fall programs opened this morning at 9 AM through Click-it; general registration opens Aug 12 at 9 AM. Altruistic August: Action for Happiness
Beaumont FCSS's monthly Action for Happiness theme is Altruistic August, focused on the benefits of giving. A downloadable daily-actions calendar is available from Action for Happiness's website, and FCSS posts monthly updates on Facebook.

Enhanced Policing Model Now in Place
A year-long pilot with the Parkland RCMP detachment, launched October 2025, has wrapped, and Devon now runs on an enhanced policing model that integrates resources with Parkland to stabilize service levels and build a more regional approach. Mayor Craddock says the town now has better coverage and access to higher-level services.

Saint Laurent (Leduc, opening Fall 2026) A Montreal-style deli founded by a team of locals and born-and-raised Montrealers is moving into the former Maple Leaf Cafe space in historic downtown Leduc (4721 50 Ave) — smoked meat, poutine with real curds, and Montreal-style steamés. Coincidentally, exactly a hundred years after that building was Maple Leaf Cafe, it's becoming a place for locals to eat and drink again. Leduc: Black Gold Drive gets alternating lane closures starting today, between 48A Street and 48 Street, for pressure-reducing valve work. One lane each direction stays open; expected to wrap by end of September.
Devon: Voyageur Park paid parking in effect Fri/Sat/Sun/holidays, 6:00 AM–11:00 PM, through Sept 30. Devon residents can register their plate online to park free.
Devon: Michigan Street remains closed for stormwater main replacement (notice issued Jul 7, "expected to run several more weeks"). No reopening notice found as of this check — worth confirming directly before publishing if it matters to readers on that route.
Regional: Blue-green algae advisory remains active at Pigeon Lake (issued Jul 20 by Alberta Health Services, still listed as current). Avoid contact with visible blooms.
